Our addiction treatment counselors talk to people repeatedly who will not think of entering an inpatient treatment center and always think they can beat addiction by remaining in the same environment. Many people also look at inpatient treatment centers with the same old outlook of the past and really have no idea what an inpatient treatment center is really like until faced with no other alternative.
If you are looking for an inpatient treatment center there are many to choose from that range of length of time, costs, methodology and more importantly success. We have helped many people determine the difference between inpatient alcohol treatment centers or inpatient drug treatment centers.
An inpatient treatment center is usually needed when the level of addiction has reached the point of the addict, regardless of what he or she has tried to do cannot stop abusing drugs or alcohol on their own. The short term inpatient treatment centers usually consist of a medical detox and are only a few days long. These programs are sometimes needed for detox and get the addict through the initial withdrawal but really don’t do anything significant in the way of achieving any type of rehabilitation.
Another kind of inpatient treatment center is the thirty day program that uses the twelve step methods employed at any of the inpatient alcohol treatment centers of the past. Well we shouldn’t say the past as a lot of these addiction treatment programs are still in existence and actually quite prevalent in the field of addiction treatment.
There are two types of twelve step inpatient treatment centers, one being the traditional twelve step program and the other being called the dual diagnosis addiction treatment or drug alcohol rehab program. These brands of inpatient drug treatment centers use methadone maintenance and replacement drugs as therapy and you should be aware our addiction treatment counselors do receive a high volume of calls from addicts now trying to get off of the drugs prescribed in these programs.
Another longer term inpatient treatment center is the non-denominational Christian based programs that are generally 12-18 months in length and have a high success rate if one is willing to adhere to the admissions agreement. These addiction treatment or drug rehab programs do not use any medication and rely on learning scripture to better enable one to navigate through life and be successful.
There is a fourth type of inpatient treatment center called a bio-physical/social education model drug alcohol rehab program that has a high success rate as well, is about 3-5 months in length but is time variable meaning the person is allowed to take as long as needed to complete the program. These programs focus on vitamin therapy, complete body detoxification, cognitive life skills and learning how to deal with life and take responsibility for one’s own outcome.
